Welcome to Tafseer App, a Quran application designed to help you explore Quranic interpretations and reduce digital distractions through the built-in Quran Lock feature. This Privacy Policy explains exactly how we collect, use, and protect information — particularly regarding the sensitive device permissions our app requires to function.

Our Core Commitment

All processing happens locally on your device. We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal data, usage statistics, or app interaction history to any external server.

Permissions & Why We Need Them

To deliver the app-blocking feature, Quran Lock requests the following Android permissions. Each one is used only for its stated purpose and nothing more.

Sensitive

Used to detect when a blocked app (as selected by you) becomes active in the foreground, so Tafseer App can instantly display the reading overlay. We do not monitor keystrokes, read screen content, capture text, or record any user interaction. We only observe the package name of the currently active app.

Not used for keylogging, screen reading, or surveillance of any kind.

Usage Stats (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS)
Sensitive

A secondary mechanism to identify which application is currently running in the foreground. This data is checked locally in real-time against your personal blocked-apps list to decide whether to show the Quran Lock screen. This data is never stored, logged, or sent anywhere.

Checked in memory only. Never stored or transmitted.

Draw Over Other Apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW)
Required

Allows Tafseer App to display the reading overlay on top of blocked applications. This is the core mechanism of the lock — without it, the overlay window cannot appear over a distraction app. It is used exclusively to show the Quran reading screen.

Used only to display the Quran Lock overlay screen.

Foreground Service (FOREGROUND_SERVICE / specialUse)
Required

Keeps the app-monitoring service running reliably in the background while you use your phone. Without a foreground service, Android may terminate the process, causing blocked apps to open without the lock screen appearing. A persistent notification is shown while this service is active, as required by Android.

Runs only while Quran Lock is enabled by you.

Ignore Battery Optimizations (REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS)
Required

Prevents Android's battery saver from stopping the background monitoring service. If the service is killed by the system, blocked apps could open freely. This permission ensures the lock screen appears consistently regardless of device battery state. You will be asked to grant this explicitly; it can be revoked at any time in device settings.

Requested only to ensure reliable blocking functionality.

Notifications & Wake Lock
Required

POST_NOTIFICATIONS is used to show the mandatory foreground service notification and optional reminders for your reading sessions. WAKE_LOCK keeps the screen on briefly when the Quran overlay appears, so you can read without the screen turning off mid-session. Neither permission is used for advertising or analytics.

Used only for service notification and reading-session screen management.

Internet & Boot Receiver
Required

INTERNET is used solely to load Quran content and translations within the app (no personal data is sent). RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED restarts the background service automatically after your device reboots, so your blocking settings remain active without needing to reopen the app.

No personal data is sent over the network.

Local Data Storage

Your configuration — including your list of blocked apps, daily reading goals, and session preferences — is stored entirely in your device's secure local storage using Flutter's standard mechanisms. This data never leaves your device. Uninstalling Tafseer App will permanently delete all locally stored data.

Section 05

Third-Party Services

Quran Lock does not integrate any third-party analytics platforms (such as Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, or similar), advertising SDKs, or social login services. The only external network activity is fetching Quran text and translation content for display within the app.

Section 06

Children's Privacy

Quran Lock is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Because no data is collected at all, there are no special provisions required. If you believe any data has been collected in error, please contact us immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our app's functionality or applicable regulations. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes affecting your permissions or data rights, we will notify you via an in-app notice on the next launch.
